RECENT PROJECTS
Alessandra Manzini
Dr. Alessandra Manzini, EUTOPIA SIF Marie Curie post-doctoral fellow CY Cergy Paris University and CASES group UPF works at the intersection of radical geography, political ecology, and advanced statistical ethno-archaeology. She leads the SPIRAL project—a global, cross-cultural comparative study of spiritual landscape management practices, with a special focus on sacred groves and forest patches. Employing a mixed-methods approach, SPIRAL investigates how indigenous ways of knowing and relating to forests contributes to socio-ecological resilience, biodiversity conservation, and landscape metastability. Current case studies emphasize eco-spiritual practices within African and Afrodiasporic contexts, revealing complex cosmoecologies of resistance and resilience.
