Venice Intercultural Film Festival

Cinema as a Universal Language and a Mirror of Cultural Diversity

In a globalized world, cinema also tends to be global. Yet every country has its own culture, its own identity, and a unique way of seeing the world and life itself. These differences in human experience are a treasure that must be valued. We believe that cinema is a tool that opens the mind and can “shed light” on aspects of human experience that usually escape us.

A Festival for Dialogue and Mutual Cultural Enrichment

We aim to make our festival a stable annual reference point for dialogue among different cultures. The Venice Intercultural Film Festival rewards productions that highlight significant aspects of local or national cultures. Our guiding principle is the idea of “interculturality”, which is defined as the relationship between two or more cultures characterized by the mutual enrichment of values, ideas, customs, and traditions. This concept goes beyond the mere—and often problematic—coexistence of different cultures in the same place (multiculturalism).
